(1) Two men robbed a bank in Shanghai.
rob 是及物動(dòng)詞，意為“搶”，其賓語(yǔ)必須 是人或地點(diǎn)，即搶劫的對(duì)象，而不能是所搶的東西；對(duì)于所搶的物品要用of短語(yǔ)表示，可構(gòu)成“rob+人/地點(diǎn)+of+某物”的結(jié)構(gòu)。
Eg: 1. 那個(gè)人搶了我的金表。

(2) China beat Brazil 2-1 in football.beat與defeat同義,他們的主語(yǔ)必須是“人”或是一個(gè)集體，如a team, a class, a school, an army等。 beat的本義是指在比賽中打贏或勝過(guò)某人，而defeat的本義是指在戰(zhàn)場(chǎng)上打敗敵人，但它們通常可以互換使用。
win表示在較強(qiáng)的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)中取得了勝利，其賓語(yǔ)可以使game, war, prize, fame, battle等，但不能是競(jìng)爭(zhēng)或戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)的對(duì)手。.我們?cè)诨@球比賽中贏了他們。

People, especially in my town, want to know if it’s a rumor or not. If a new factory is built, they can get jobs, which are important to their lives.
Food prices are going up.
Food is very important to people’s life. On one hand, going-up prices can increase farmers’ income; on the other hand, it will affect other people’s living standards.
Three children from your city were killed.
Many people are interested in social problems. They may be eager to know the causes and the results of the accident.
Example:
