一. 教材分析
本篇課文The language of honey bees 是新編英語教材第三冊的第14單元，是一篇科技性說明文。講述了一位科學家對蜜蜂交流食物信息途徑的研究。涉及到蜜蜂如何通過舞蹈傳遞食物的遠近和距離等內(nèi)容。就本單元Zoology而言，reading部分是本單元的中心，一方面有warming- up 和 speaking 當中學到的有關動物的知識為其作鋪墊，另一方面此課的學習又為下面的Primates 打下基礎，使學生能在reading 中學到的關于動物的信息和探索的科學方法，以及閱讀中獲得的閱讀技巧得到更好的應用和發(fā)揮。就本冊教材而言前四個單元都是有關對自身極限和對自然界的探索，在第十單元又涉及到了成功的關鍵，這就為本課的學習奠定了情感基礎。另一方面，這是第十三單元的課文，已接近本冊書的結尾，所以在語言能力的各個方面學生也都有了一定的積累。因此，從內(nèi)容上看，本節(jié)課是對前面所學單元主題的再現(xiàn)與升華。本課的學習可以進一步培養(yǎng)學生的探索能力，推理能力和空間的想象力。．
二．學生情況
相對而言，理科班的學生英語要弱一些，而本篇文章的很多句子和段落的語言不夠清晰明了，對他們來說是有一定的難度的。但由于本文涉及到了蜜蜂的舞蹈，是屬于動物學的問題，從內(nèi)容上看應該是理科班的學生更感興趣的話題。
為了使學生更好地理解本篇文章，達到教學目的，就必須通過將抽象的語言用圖片或動畫表現(xiàn)出來以減小語言上給他們帶來的壓力，同時又要激發(fā)他們原有的對動物的興趣。
三．Teaching goals
Knowledge objectives
1. Enable the students to know the communicating ways of bees.
2. Enable the students to understand how Professor Karl Von Frisch’s experiment is done.
Skill objectives:
1. Improve students’ reading ability, especially in exploring the implied information.
2. Improve students’ thinking ability, especially deducing.
Moral objective: to promote the spirit of scientific thin king and cooperation and loving animals.

Ⅰ.Leading in
1、Show a group of pictures of animals on the screen. Ask the students to speak out the names of the animals.
2、Ask the students to say as many proverbs or sayings containing the name of an animal as possible.
