　　在上世紀90年代中后期，鏡湖的水體呈高富營養化狀態，水質嚴重惡化，水變成了黃色。惡化的原因主要有：蕪湖市某醫院通過地下水道將大量未經處理的污物、污水直接排進了鏡湖；部分素質不高的市民往鏡湖里倒垃圾；最可氣的是鏡湖風景區的某些工作人員竟然在鏡湖里洗拖把！慢慢地，鏡湖水變成了黃色，湖面上漂浮著許多垃圾，還散發著一股臭味。來到鏡湖邊的人們都捂著鼻子跑開了，嘴里還不停地說：“真臭！臭死了！”

　　一九九九年DDD二０００年，蕪湖市人民政府號召全市人民清理鏡湖。首先，工作人員用機器將湖水抽干，再由黨員帶頭和市民們一起挖掉淤泥，最后注入清澈的`水。我外公是黨員，他有著親身體驗，外公說，那次勞動很累，但改善了鏡湖的水質，大伙兒都感到很高興。

　　現在人們的環保意識增強了，再也沒有人往鏡湖里扔垃圾、排污水了。當你來到鏡湖時，你會看到一片清澈的湖水，水底游來游去的小魚，湖水旁婀娜的垂柳和剛長出來的青青的小草。

　　有了90年代的教訓，我們一定要做個講文明的好孩子，要保護鏡湖水質，保持生態平衡。
