1911年辛亥革命以后，清朝統(tǒng)治被推翻，孫中山在南京建立中華民國(guó)政府。各省都督府代表在南京召開(kāi)會(huì)議，討論歷法問(wèn)題。會(huì)上達(dá)成了“行夏歷，所以順農(nóng)時(shí);從西歷，所以便統(tǒng)計(jì)”的共識(shí)，決定使用公歷，把公歷1月1日定做“新年”，把農(nóng)歷正月初一稱(chēng)做“春節(jié)”，但并未正式命名和推廣。1949年9月27日，中國(guó)人民政治協(xié)商會(huì)議第一屆全體會(huì)議通過(guò)使用“公歷紀(jì)年法”，將公歷1月1日定為“元旦”，把農(nóng)歷正月初一定名為“春節(jié)”，并規(guī)定春節(jié)放假三天，讓人們熱烈地慶祝農(nóng)歷新年。
在兩千多年的歷史進(jìn)程中，我國(guó)的新年禮俗經(jīng)歷了萌芽、定型、裂變、轉(zhuǎn)型的發(fā)展過(guò)程。
